Case Study 4

Case Study: AltaVista

Client: AltaVista is a major provider of internet search facilities, using technology originally developed by Digital.

Client appraisal: "We bought [the] Powerbar for our intranet, and it truly kicks ass. Saved us some major development time trying to get DHTML, or other technologies to work on our variety of operating systems." (Bob Kolosky, AltaVista)

Product: AltaVista's requirements were, on the surface, simple. They wanted an easily deployable, scalable drop-down menu which really worked cross-platform. However the limitations of DHTML menus (neither scalable nor properly compatible with different browsers) had proved frustrating. They then opted for our iPOP Pro-X Powerbar I drop-down menu, which proved to an instant success.

Special notes: in fact we have pioneered many more drop-down menu technologies than this and we now produce a number of superior menus. The current range of drop-down menu solutions can be viewed here.
