| Tree menu: iTree Pro-X Powertree Newsreel
The newsreel menu option is a unique feature of iTree Pro-X Powertree.
Although the newsreel looks totally different from other menu types, behind
the scenes it is identical. The newsreel reads any standard IMINT.COM index
file, and simply displays it in a different way. Instead of arranging the
menu entries as a tree or pop-up menu, it displays each entry singly, one
after the other, in a sequence. If any menu entry is clicked while it is
displaying, then just the same things can happen as with a click on a
tree menu item - e.g. hyperlinks can load pages, scripts can be triggered,
and other commands issued.
In every respect, the newsreel behaves like other menu displays. For example,
mouse-over results in the menu entry changing to colours you define for
the mouse-over state. The search facility can be used to search through the
newsreel menu and jump consecutively through each result. You can use images
in place of text. The text can be wrapped and forced line breaks entered just
as with the tree menu entries. You can also DRILL and ADD indices and index
segments.
Special newsreel features include:
- Optional back and forward buttons just below the display
- The newsreel can be set to automatically cycle through the items (or not)
- If the mouse moves onto the applet, the auto-reeling pauses
- There are animated fading transitions between items, with variable
speed and duration
Check the parameter list for the parameters which control these features.
