| Java menu knowledge base Trial version FAQ
Can I try out the applets first?
Yes. Please do. In fact, you really should try them first, because
we want you to be 100% satisfied with our products before
you buy them.
Are the trial versions fully-featured?
Yes. We used to cut out some features to act as an incentive for
people not to keep using the trial versions ("crippleware policy").
However we eventually decided that a "nagware" policy would be better,
because this lets you try out absolutely every feature in a real
environment without any restrictions. "Nagware" is any software trial version
that occasionally displays a reminder that it is a trial.
Do the purchasable versions work faster?
Yes and no. There are no "nag" displays (see last question), and this saves
time. Purchasers seem to think that nevertheless the purchased versions
are really much faster. The code is actually the same, but it may be that
the "nag" displays make the trial versions seem slower than they are.
IMPORTANT: most often performance problems are caused by incorrect usage
of the software. If you think the trial version is not performing well,
please upload everything to a test page on the web and send us the URL.
Do NOT send us any attachments. If we can view your experiments on the
web, we may be able to help.
Are there any other differences between trials and purchased software?
Mostly no. You should not
assume that the purchased version will be better than the trial or have
more features - because we try and make the trials as good as the
purchased versions.
In some cases, due to our policy of continuous development,
features may have been added to release versions that are not
yet available in the trial versions; generally these features
will not yet be documented either. Stay tuned to the newsletter
for information about such upgrades.
Where can I get the trial versions?
Here.
